Video: Calico Rockin' !

The following video is a compilation of clips gathered over the past several weeks as the EIC Crew visited the Calico Rock area. Included are clips from Peppersauce Ghost Town, The Natural Bridge near Dolph, the Indian Cave in Calico Rock, and Hobo's Den.

EIC was asked to visit the Indian Cave and investigate the structures built within it then to offer our thoughts on their origins and intended use. Besides the EIC Crew, The Snyders and McGuffeys were also present when we visited the site. We've published a post at The EIC Journal page and will be discussing our thoughts about what we found over there. We also invite our readers to view the video, read the article at The EIC Journal, look at the photos posted over there, and offer their own thoughts. Perhaps there is someone out there who knows how this unique site was utilized in the past.

Enjoy!

Sharing the Wonder!

A beautiful but cold Sunday afternoon afforded us the opportunity to share a portion of what we've been experiencing these past couple of years with some friends.
My friend, the Gypsy Scholar (Horace Jeffery Hodges in the comments), has come back to his boyhood home in Salem and brought his family all the way from Seoul, South Korea! We met online through EIC nearly two years ago. When he had made plans to bring his family back for a visit, he...naturally...contacted me to request a personal tour and a bit of in-person fellowship. I was more than happy to oblige!
HillbillyRecon joined us with his family and we took the couple and their kids first to City Rock Bluff...and then to the magnificent Natural Bridge near Dolph.

Check out the EIC Journal entry!

Click this text for EIC Journal Entry

Wow! What an afternoon!
A small excursion quickly turned into a group outing when family and friends joined us as we took Colt to see the Natural Bridge near Dolph.

Enjoy the videos and the few photos we took. Please...don't forget to click over to the Hunkahillbilly YouTube page and watch our other videos. And...take the time to rate each clip as you view it.
Also...more detailed account of each excursion on which our crew embarks can be read within a day or so at The EIC Journal page!

Natural Bridge near Dolph

Our host was gracious enough to show us the awesome natural bridge on his property near Dolph, Arkansas. The feature spans the headwaters of Calico Creek. In the old days, farmers in the area would pack the crevices on top of the natural bridge with earth so they could drive wagons and livestock from one side of the deep canyon, which runs a long way along Calico Creek, to the other side.
We were told of more very cool sites further along the creek, including Cantrell Den...where the locals hid their horses and other livestock from Bushwhackers and Union troops during the Civil-War. An excursion is being planned to that site and the others of which we were told.
The old house stands at the entrance to the property.

Heartfelt gratitude to our hosts!!
