Misty-Morning Tour

Today the weather got the better of a planned excursion. We had planned to go to another cave off of Sylamore Road after being offered a tour by the landowner. The past two days we've had light rain along with a heavy, heavy mist which has dampened everything and turned the soil to gooey mush and slickened the mossy rocks. We were told, "You just about have to be a billy-goat" to get down to the cave which is located along a steep bluff.

To make a long story short, we didn't go because of the potential danger factor. However, we can say with confidence...if there are caves and other sights out there we haven't visited...there are more places to visit!

We decided to take a tour of the southwestern part of the county along the River Road and through Tanner Hollow to Lunenburg and finally back to Melbourne. The following shots and videos are some of what we saw along the way.

The old millstone was once used at Dodd Hole.
