Great little video on the some of the history re: Lunenburg. As always, Denny provides great insight on the various historical treasures of Izard County............well worth the time to view.
The place you referred to as the Old Shannon place where partial foundation is left and the barn still standing was my grandparents old homestead and my mother grew up. My grandfather is the one who built that barn many years ago and Mr. Teague has kept it up. My grandparents were TJ and Addie Adkisson and my mother is Rachel (Adkisson) Murray she attended the Lunengurg school when she was a child. The place now belongs to John Teague a few weeks back my daughter and I took my mom to see the place and Mr. Teague took us around to where the molasses was made and to see all the beautiful springs, (there is even a bubbling spring) as well as tell us some interesting stories. Thank you for sharing the video, since my mother has alzheimer's this is something she has enjoyed watching and reminiscing.
Thank you for sharing this! We love it when folks stop by and give their personal thoughts. My reference to it being the Shannon place was based upon faulty reasoning. A lesson for me, actually. Thanks again!
I have a painting of the Lunenburg schoolhouse, painted from a photo taken in 1968. My dad went to school there.
