I was raised on Knob Creek and it is still my home. I have fished on the creek with cane poles with Brother Pod and Janet ,sat in Prickly Pears and hunted Easter Eggs on Pilot Knob when Lonnie would team up the wagon . I have been in the Hunter Mountain Cave many times , but my last, was with Brother Pod ! I have picked flowers for Mom from the creek bottoms and from my Great Grandma's place ( Robert Cooper place )for no reason .I have carried water from the springs to the house and to Aunt Graces house.( Robert Cooper place)My mind is full of memory's , but I think the ones that are best are from , playing on the creek till dark, fishing , useing sand to get the seed ticks off , to running from the bear , with Brother Pod pulling the wagon Brother Doyle was setting in ! and oh yea, there was time the bull got after me and Pod and run us into the barn loft ! But then , washing canning jars to picking cotton (that by the way I didn't like ( couldn't pick much I wasn't big enough )to following Lonnie in the wagon with cane in it..I could go on and on . When I go see Mom , I sometimes go set over at the old Charlie House front porch , that I was raised in,and think about all the times, Me,Pod,and Janet would go out and stay for hrs. ! I never dreamed I would be setting at a computer , dreaming about those days that are come and gone . What I would give to go back behind ,the Charlie House with Brother Pod and hunt horned toads and glade lizards again ! Cindy Lou Cooper
I know that this is a common claim people make around the world, but to me the Ozarks of Arkansas truly is God's Country! This site will be dedicated to showing anyone interested--Sunday motorists to fair-weather cyclists--some of the hidden treasures in the county they drive through.
Over the past several years, with the explosion of the popularity of custom car-clubs and motorcycle enthusiasts, Izard county has seen a parade of people from outside the area coming to enjoy the panoramic views from the comfort of their chosen mode of pleasurable transportation. Many, I'm absolutely sure, drive by sights that are easily accesible and not far off the highway never even knowing those sights are there. This blog will give anyone searching for information before they visit the area a way to know where some of those places are.
