Izard County's Hidden Historical Treasure: The Melbourne Museum

Scroll for Road Trip/Concert info

If you've never taken the time to stop-in at the Melbourne Museum, you're missing a true hidden treasure! It's not the Smithsonian, mind you, but the small space is packed with remnants of Izard County's history.
From a large catalogue of old photos and documents to a civil-war saber found sticking in the ground through a hat in Lunenburg, this little jewel will captivate you enough that you're guaranteed to spend more time there than you had intended upon entering.
Jim Harris, the curator, will give you a great history lesson on the Melbourne area while you browse your way through vintage clothing and tools and appliances. A whiskey-still has been erected and is on display there and...it alone is worth the time you'll spend there.
