Completed: "Calico Rockin' - The Bluff City Bash" Road Trip!

On October 23rd, 2010, nearly 60 people in 23 vehicles snaked through the streets of Calico Rock to visit several exciting places around town. The event began with a walking tour to Hobo's Den followed by a driving tour to several historic buildings and a stop at Stoner's Point. Below are a few photos from the Road-Trip. We'll be compiling photos from participants and EIC Event Staff over the next few days to produce a Webshots photo album of the event. We'll also be processing what video we shot to produce a movie for the YouTube page. Check in later this week for these additions to our coverage of yesterday's event!

We're proud to announce that through the generosity of area businesses and our tour participants, we were able to raise over $400 for the new Calico Rock History Museum!

We so appreciate area businesses who value what we're trying to accomplish through events like this. Our sponsors are:

In Melbourne
- The Ashley House B&B, The American Burger Center, Beene's Car-Care, The Corner Drug Store, Mark's Pharmacy, Cooper's on the Square, Ramsey's Computer Service

In Calico Rock - Cedar Rock Lodge, Don Quixote's, Clinkingbeard Family Clothing, Ed & Kay's Place, The Wagon Wheel Antiques, White River Cafe, Park Street Pharmacy

ENJOY!

Calico Rock Museum

Following are photos from the recently-opened Calico Rock Museum in Calico Rock. At the time these shots were taken, the museum was being temporarily housed in the back rooms of the Calico Rock Chamber of Commerce Building on Main Street. Since our visit there in April, the Museum has acquired the Rand Building on Main Street and is now in the process of preparing it for exhibits. While the new facility is being prepared, the exhibits are still available for viewing at the Chamber office.

We have been informed that the Rand Building will be opening to artisans and craftspeople on Tuesday, July 27th, who will demonstrate their crafts and offer their products for display and purchase. The Artisans and Craftspeople will be utilizing the facility during the Museum transition.

We'll let our readers know when the Museum has completed its move to the new space and announces its opening. We encourage you to stop by to visit the museum and see the works of local artists and craftworkers.

That day, the museum will have a scanner set up to make copies of old photographs and other documents. They will also take photos of heirloom items and artifacts. Those wishing to donate or lend any items to the museum will be given details of how to do this. Following the program, the Historical Society will hold a business meeting.
